color

Colourless diamonds are graded from D to Z; D being colourless and Z being a yellow tint. The more colourless a diamond, the more value it has and the rarer it is in the selected colour range.

cut

A diamond cut is a style or design guide used when shaping a diamond for polishing such as the brilliant cut. Cut does not refer to shape (pear, oval), but the symmetry, proportioning and polish of a diamond. The cut of a diamond greatly affects a diamond's brilliance.

clarity

When a diamond is graded the clarity should also be kept in consideration. The clarity of a diamond is established by the blemishes and internal characteristics of the diamond, which is only visible underneath a 10X magnification. A diamondís clarity will then be rated from Flawless to Included, with Flawless being the rarest of its kind.

carat

Diamonds are sold by the carat (shown as ct.), which is actually a unit of weight, though most think of a carat in terms of size. The word "carat" comes from the "carob" seed, the original unit of measure for diamond traders. Today, a carat is equal to exactly 0.2 grams
